The SST's were violently opening up in my 25-06 on deer, so I have not tried the 6mm bullets on game. And yes, I do my own gutting and butchering.Īnother very accurate bullet is the 95 grain SST - with 51.8 grains of H4831sc it shoots consistently under 1/2" at 100 yards - 5 shot groups. As I recall this was when that bullet came out and it may have improved since then. The holes those bullets made were the same in and out. He was at rest when I shot him the first time, so adrenalin wasn't an issue. I shot a trophy pronghorn 6 times in the lungs before he dropped - I think the last shot was in the neck. The 105 grain Speer spitzer with IMR4831 (I recall 45 grains) was very accurate (<1/4" at 100 yards). It looks like you are mostly interested in deer loads, but I use mine for anything: prairie dogs, skunks, raccoons, jack rabbits, coyotes, crows & pronghorn. Others I've owned, I shot out the barrels and those barrels were new when I started using them.
